Put a task on a schedule

Write the request once. Pick when it runs and where the result goes. Tabloy runs it every time, with the data, the research and the files that a chat would have.

What an automation is

A saved request plus a schedule. On every run Tabloy answers it in a new chat, as if you had typed it, and delivers the reply, with any file it built, to the destination you chose. If it works in chat, it works on a schedule: a report, a check, a summary, a deck.

Create one from the chat

Write the request with the schedule in it, as above. Tabloy creates the automation and confirms it. If the chat has a dataset or a source attached, the automation keeps it.

Create one in Automations

1. Open Automations in the sidebar and press New Automation.
2. Name it.
3. Instructions: the request, written the way you would write it in a chat.
4. Model: leave Auto, or pick one. See Models.
5. Repeats: hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, once, or a custom rule, and the time. Times are in your time zone.
6. Dataset or Source: the data the request runs on, or none.
7. Destination: where the result goes. See Where results go.
8. Press Create.

Run it now

Run now in the editor runs the automation at once, without waiting for the schedule. Use it to check the result before the first scheduled run.

What happens on a run

• A new chat is made for the run, named after the automation and the time.
• The last delivered result is given to the run as context, so "what changed since last time" has something to compare with.
• The request is answered like a chat message: with the data, with research if the request calls for it, with a deck or a file if it asks for one.
• The result is delivered. Where it appears depends on the destination.

A run has up to 30 minutes. A run that fails for a passing reason (a network hiccup, a busy model) is retried once.

Only when something is new

Set Notify to Only when there is something new. Tabloy compares the new result with the last one it sent, and stays quiet when nothing changed: no message, no file. The run log says Nothing new, not sent.

The run log

Execution Logs in the editor lists every run: when, how long, success or failure, and a link to the chat of the run. Runs delivered elsewhere and quiet runs are here too.

Paused after failures

After three failed runs in a row the automation pauses itself and tells you why: in the app, and by email, Telegram or Slack if that is its destination. Fix the cause (a deleted dataset, a database that no longer answers, a request that cannot be done) and enable it again.

Edit, disable, delete

Open the automation in Automations. Save applies from the next run. Disable keeps it without running; Delete removes it and its run log. Chats of past runs stay.
