Shortcuts, voice and the browser
Ask from anywhere
Press Shift+Ctrl+I (Shift+Cmd+I on a Mac) in any program. A small box opens over it. Type your question and the answer comes without switching windows.
To ask about something on the screen, drag over that part of the screen. It is attached as a picture, for models that read pictures.
Speak instead of typing
Press Shift+Ctrl+Space, speak, and the text goes to the chat. Or press the microphone in the message box. This uses your microphone.
The first time, the app downloads what voice input needs, about 45 MB.
Shortcuts
| Shortcut | What it does |
|---|---|
| Ctrl+Shift+O | A new chat |
| Shift+Ctrl+I | Ask from anywhere |
| Shift+Ctrl+Space | Voice input |
| Ctrl+Shift+B | Show or hide the browser next to the chat |
On a Mac, use Cmd instead of Ctrl. Change the shortcuts in Settings, Shortcuts.
A browser next to the chat
Press the globe at the top of a chat. A browser opens on the right of the window. Links in answers open there too.
It keeps you signed in to sites between starts. When the assistant records a video of a site you have to sign in to, you sign in right there.
Two chats side by side
Hold Ctrl (Cmd on a Mac) and click a chat in the side panel, or choose Open beside in its menu. Drag the line between them to change their widths.
Skills
A skill is how you want a kind of work done, written once: your tone of voice, how a weekly report should look, your code style. The assistant follows it in chats and when it builds apps.
Open Skills in the side panel. Press New skill to write one, or Import to add one from a file. You can turn a skill off or export it.
A temporary chat
The icon next to the globe starts a temporary chat. It is not kept in your list of chats.
